Unlicensed driver arrested for DUI after causing serious crash in Gordon County

According to a Gordon County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On Friday, March 3rd, 2023, at 11:52 PM, Deputy Phillips was dispatched to a rollover vehicle crash at Red Bud Rd at Chastain Road. Deputy Phillips arrived and noticed a red Dodge Ram pickup truck rolled over on its passenger side. According to the report, Deputy Phillips observed a male subject, later known as Andres Cendeno, 58, of Calhoun, lying down on the ground next to the pickup truck. As Deputy Phillips went to make contact with Cendeno, he observed a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person. Cedeno was unresponsive and could not answer any of Deputy Phillips’s questions.” Deputy Phillips then made contact with the other male that was inside the vehicle. The deputy noticed several cuts and wounds around his face and head area. Deputy Phillips also observed a strong odor of alcohol coming from him. The passenger said they both had been drinking. The passenger said he let Cedeno drive his vehicle because Cedeno told him he was okay to drive. The passenger said neither of them was wearing a seat belt. Deputy Phillips observed a crack in the windshield where the passenger had been thrown into the window during the crash. The passenger refused any treatment and was issued two citations. Deputy Phillips observed multiple open Modelo twelve-ounce beer cans and one open eight-teen-ounce Budweiser bottle in the front passenger side and back seat of the vehicle. Cedeno would refuse the state test at Gordon County Advent Health. Cedeno was charged with driving without a license, DUI, failure to maintain a single lane, open container violation, seat belt violation, and too fast for conditions.
