According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, On February 17th, 2023, at 4:47, Officer Fraire responded to a call at the Walmart 815 Shugart Road in reference to male and female shoplifting on live surveillance. While en route to Walmart, dispatch advised the suspects had fled on foot. Dispatch advised the suspects had run behind the Walmart building and headed towards Heathcliff Apartments. Officer Fraire located the male and female, later identified as Karsson B Durham, 43, of Dalton, and Bridgette G Riddle, of Dalton. They were located attempting to hide behind a patio privacy screen as the patrol vehicle pulled into the street. They were in possession of a black bag which was later found to contain an opened alcoholic beverage taken from Walmart. Both Karsson and Bridgette were placed in handcuffs and told they were arrested for loitering. Officer Johnston transported Karsson and Bridgette to the Whitfield County Jail. Officer Fraire reported, “While watching the surveillance video, [I] observed Bridgette consuming an alcoholic beverage while driving a Walmart handicapped scooter and Karsson by her side. Surveillance also captured Bridgette and Karsson skip-scanning items at the self-check out. The total amount came out to $239.27.” Both Bridgette and Karsson were charged with theft by shoplifting and loitering or prowling.
