Dalton man arrested for DUI after 911 call from concerned citizen on I-75 in Gordon County

According to a Gordon County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On Friday, June 9th, 2023, at 12:07 AM, Deputy Carnes was on routine patrol in the area of Interstate 75 southbound around mile marker 317. Deputy Carnes was advised of a BOLO regarding an older model Chevrolet Colorado swerving all over the road and speeding. The caller told Gordon E-911 that the suspect vehicle had run off of the interstate into the grass around the 323-mile marker. Deputy Carnes located the truck and observed the vehicle swerving all over the roadway, failing to maintain a single lane. Deputy Carnes initiated a traffic stop around mile marker 313 southbound and made contact with the driver, later identified as Fernando Salas Lugo, 37, of Dalton. Fernando advised he was coming from Chattanooga, TN. Fernando’s eyes were bloodshot and showed signs of impairment. During field sobriety tests, Fernando showed several signs of alcohol impairment and a BAC of .123 on a PBT. Fernando was placed under arrest and agreed to the state test. Fernando was booked into the Gordon County Jail, charged with DUI and failed to maintain a single lane.
