Chickamauga man arrested for DUI after driving too fast for conditions and crashing in Gordon County

According to a Gordon County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On May 6th, 2023, at 2:02 AM, Deputy Ralston was dispatched to the area of Sugar Valley Road and Resaca Lafayette Road in reference to a single-vehicle crash with unknown injuries. Deputy Ralston spoke with the driver Cameron Dylon Martin Behrens, 33, of Chickamauga, whom was standing outside his vehicle speaking with another vehicle that had stopped to assist. According to the report, Deputy Ralston immediately smelled a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from Cameron’s person while he was speaking. Cameron stated he was heading home to Chickamauga, Georgia, from Atlanta, Georgia, when he approached the intersection of Sugar Valley Road and Resaca Lafayette Road, traveling too fast and losing control before coming to a stop in the ditch. Cameron advised hid did not need any medical attention. Cameron’s eyes were bloodshot, and his speech was a slur.” During standardized Field Sobriety tests, Cameron showed several signs of impairment. Cameron was placed under arrest for DUI and refused. Cameron was booked into the Gordon County Jail and charged with DUI alcohol and too fast for conditions.
