Man arrested for DUI after speeding on Dietz Road in Catoosa County

According to a Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On Thursday, May 18th, 2023, at 1:30 AM, Deputy Kuzma was traveling southbound on Dietz Road when a 2016 Ford Taurus passed him at 48 mph in a posted 35 mph zone. Deputy Kuzma initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Micah J Baston, 40. According to the report, While talking to Baston, Deputy Kuzma noticed that his eyes were glassy and watery and could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming off Baston’s breath. Baston stated that he was leaving O’Charlys in Fort Oglethorpe, helping a friend who worked there close. Deputy Kuzma asked Baston if he had anything to drink tonight, and he stated he only had approximately 3 or 4 beers. Deputy Kuzma asked Baston if he felt like he was okay to be driving, and he stated yes.” During field sobriety tests, Baston showed several signs of impairment and a BAC of .110. Baston was placed under arrest for DUI and refused the state test. Baston was booked into the Catoosa County Jail and charged with DUI and speeding.
