Woman arrested at checkpoint in Catoosa County for DUI after leaving bar

According to a Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On June 3rd, 2023, at 4:43 AM, Deputy Davis was participating in a license checkpoint at the I-75 Southbound exit 353 ramp when a 2011 Red Lexus IS350 approached, and contact was made with the Vernice Munguia, 25. According to the report, “Deputy Davis was positioned on the passenger side where he observed an open Blue Moon “tall boy” style beer can in the center console. While speaking with the passenger, he advised that Vernice had just come to pick him up from the bar and that the beer can was empty and belonged to him. Deputy Davis noticed Vernice had a green wristband on her wrist, indicative of an over 21 sign for local bars. Deputy Davis instructed Vernice to pull to the side of the road and step out for field sobriety. While exiting the vehicle, Deputy Davis observed Vernice to have watery eyes and speak very loudly.” During field sobriety testing, Vernice showed several signs of impairment and refused a PBT. Vernice was placed under arrest for DUI and agreed to the state test. Vernice was booked into the Catoosa County Jail, charged with DUI.
