Rome man arrested for DUI after being stopped for driving with bright light-bar in Floyd County

According to a Floyd County Police Department incident report, “On June 14th, 2023, at 2:25 AM, Officer Overstreet and Officer Corbin were driving inbound on the Armurchee connector when they observed a vehicle operating a bright light-bar heading outbound on the connector, passing us. Officers initiated a traffic stop where the vehicle turned onto Old Dalton Road and crossed both lanes before pulling over into the left shoulder of the road into the road and grass. Officers made contact with the driver, Richmond William Booth, 32, Rome. Booth stated that he pulled over to the left side of the road because the officers scared him. Officer Corbin reported, “[I] informed Booth that I pulled him over because he was using a light bar on the roadway, which is illegal. Booth gave me his license, and [I] ran it through dispatch. During our conversation with Booth, we smelled marijuana coming from Booth’s vehicle, and Officer Overstreet asked Booth if he had had any marijuana recently. Booth admitted to smoking marijuana on his breaks at work, which was less than an hour ago at Steel King.” Officers then located a small bag containing marijuana from the sunvisor. Booth was placed under arrest for DUI and agreed to the state test. Booth was booked into the Floyd County Jail, charged with DUI drugs less safe, operating auxiliary lights on the public roadway, and possession of marijuana.
