Unlicensed drunk driver arrested after failing to maintain a single lane in Gordon County

According to a Gordon County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On May 7th, 2023, at 1:00 AM, Deputy Ralston was en route to Highway 41 North at David Lake Road in reference to assisting Sgt. Holley with a traffic stop. Sgt. Holley reported he immediately smelled a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from the driver Oswaldo Jose Acosta, 33, of Calhoun, while he was speaking. At this time, Oswaldo was out of his vehicle and standing in front of Sgt. Holley patrol vehicle. Oswaldo’s eyes were bloodshot, and his speech was a slur. Calhoun City Officer Benjamin Ayala assisted with translation due to Oswaldo speaking no English whatsoever. During standardized Field Sobriety tests, Oswaldo showed several signs of impairment and was placed under arrest for DUI alcohol. Oswaldo agreed to the state test. He was booked into the Gordon County Jail and charged with DUI, failure to maintain lane and no license.
