Tennessee teens arrested after high-speed chase in stolen Jeep ends with PIT in Catoosa County

From the Georgia State Patrol Public Information Office, On Friday, June 2, 2023, at 1:14 am, Troopers from Post 5 Dalton were requested for assistance with a pursuit which began in Cobb County, traveling north on Interstate 75 near mile marker 302, in Bartow County. The pursuit involved a white Jeep Cherokee Trackhawk and a gray Jeep Cherokee Trackhawk, both of which had been reported stolen. A Trooper joined the pursuit behind the gray Jeep Cherokee near mile marker 341 on Interstate 75 North, in Whitfield county. The driver of the gray Jeep Cherokee continued to flee from the Trooper, who performed a successful PIT maneuver on Interstate 75 North at the northbound entrance ramp from mile marker 353. The gray Jeep Cherokee struck the guardrail, and both occupants fled into the wooded area east of Interstate 75, where they were taken into custody with the assistance of Catoosa County Deputies. The occupants were transported to the Catoosa County Jail where they were charged with theft by receiving stolen property, a firearm related charge, and multiple misdemeanor and felony traffic charges related to the pursuit. Denim B Peebles, 18, of La Vergne, TN  was booked into the Catoosa County Jail, charged with felony fleeing, possession of firearm during felony crime, theft by receiving stolen vehicle, felony obstruction, felony theft by stolen vehicle, driving without valid license, speeding, reckless driving, seatbelt violation, and wanted by Bartow County. Peebles was released and transported to the Bartow County on June 5th, 2023, at 11:37 AM. Gavin C Ludin, 17, of La Vergne, TN  was booked into the Catoosa County Jail, charged with possession of firearm during felony crime, theft by receiving stolen vehicle, possession of handgun under the age of 18, felony obstruction, felony theft by stolen vehicle, and wanted by Bartow County. Ludin was released and transported to the Bartow County on June 5th, 2023, at 11:34 AM. They both are currently being held in the Bartow County Jail.

Previously: GSP and several local law enforcement agencies from two states were involved in a pursuit of two Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, one of which was stolen. The pursuit started in Bartow County and went northbound on I-75 through Gordon, Whitfield, and into Catoosa County. GSP trooper took the lead near exit 345 advising Catoosa County the Jeeps were extremely reckless, pushing speeds well over 150 mph. The stolen Jeep took exit 353 onto Cloud Springs Road, where a GSP trooper utilized a successful PIT maneuver. A foot pursuit ended with two in custody. The pursuit of the second Jeep went into Hamilton County, TN, on I-24 westbound. The pursuit went through Chattanooga and briefly took the Browns Ferry Road exit before heading back westbound into Dade County, GA. THP joined the pursuit with other Hamilton County units. The pursuit went through Georgia and ended with a PIT Maneuver and foot pursuit after the Jeep took I-24 exit 152 in South Pittsburg, Tennessee.
