Unlicensed teenager arrested for DUI after failing to maintain lane and crashing in Dalton

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, On May 20th, 2023, at 1:58 AM, Officer Sosa responded to a vehicle crash located near the intersection of Underwood Street and Dantzler Ave. Officer Sosa located the driver Saul Armando Perez, 17, of Dalton, walking away from the scene of an accident. Saul stated that he was driving a vehicle and was involved in a car accident. The officer then asked him why he was leaving the scene, and he stated that he was trying to get help. Officer Sosa reported, “While [I] gathered his information, [I] smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Saul. [I] then asked Saul if he had anything to drink, and he stated he only had a four loco and a few beers. During field sobriety tests, Saul showed several signs of impairment and agreed to the state test. Saul was given a completion of the consular notification form for non-citizens. Saul was booked into the Whitfield County Jail, where he showed a BAC of .155 on the state test and was charged with DUI, failure to maintain lane, DUI, and wrong license.
