Unlicensed Calhoun teen arrested for DUI after being stopped for equipment violation in Gordon County

According to a Gordon County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On Friday, December 9th, 2022, at 4:34 AM, Deputy Stevens was on patrol in the area of Linda Lane at East May St when deputies observed a vehicle with a headlight out and a taillight out. Deputies conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle and made contact with the driver Erick Roberto Perez, 18, of Calhoun, who was operating the vehicle with no driver’s license. According to the report, “Mr. Perez stated he has never been issued a driver’s license in any state. Mr. Perez also appeared to be under the influence of a drug and had slurred speech and heavy eyes. Mr. Perez was slow and lethargic and stumbled when he was removed from the vehicle. Deputy Stevens conducted Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus and observed equal pupil size and equal tracking. Deputy Stevens also observed a lack of smooth pursuit, and Mr. Perez had extreme difficulty following the stimuli and could not focus, and lost the stimuli multiple times. Mr. Perez also ran off the road into the grass while driving on Linda Lane, which is consistent with impaired drivers.” Perez was booked into the Gordon County Jail, charged with driving with no license and DUI drugs.
