Intoxicated Menlo man assaults elderly father after he refused to buy him more beer

According to a Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On April 30th, 2023, at 9:24 PM, Deputies responded to a physical domestic dispute at a Hwy. 337 address. Deputies arrived at 3334 Hwy. 337 and spoke with a victim, who said his son, Christopher Chase Deberry, 38, of Menlo, caused his arm to bleed after the victim refused to take Christopher to the store to buy more beer. A neighbor told deputies Christopher had asked to borrow her car earlier that evening, and she refused because Christopher was extremely intoxicated. The witness overheard the argument between the victim and Christopher, went to the house, and was told by the victim to contact law enforcement. Christopher then fled the residence and was later located by deputies on Edison Street in Menlo. Deputy Fielding reported that Christopher smelled strongly of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes. He was placed into custody and transported to the Chattooga County Jail, charged with public drunkenness, simple battery FV, exploitation and intimidation of disabled elderly adult, possession of cocaine, crossing guard lines with drugs/weapons/intoxicants, and felony probation violation O/C exploitation and intimidation of disabled elderly adult.
