Wanted pair arrested after shoplifting from Dollar General in Dalton

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, On April 13th, 2023, at 9:55 PM, Officer Sosa responded to shoplifting located at the Dollar General at 511 North Glenwood Avenue. Dollar General’s loss prevention associate stated that Emily E Patton, 21, and Christopher Waters, both of Dalton, who were later identified, were shoplifting. Emily was seen by the employee skip-scanning items in the self-checkout register. The employee stated that she was not able to stop Emily and Christopher from leaving before law enforcement arrived. She was able to write down the vehicle’s license plate number. Officer Sosa watched a security video from the register, which showed Emily pretending to scan an item by covering it with a different item. The employee then stated that Emily had been doing this two other times earlier today. Officer Shope located Emily and Christopher at 108 West Waterworks Street. Emily stated that she only took a blanket. Officers were able to recover all items taken from Dollar General and return them to the store. The officer also learned that Emily had an active bench warrant for shoplifting from (WCSO). Christopher Waters also had an active warrant for violation of parole from the state of Georgia. Emily and Christopher were both booked into the Whitfield County Jail.
