Wanted felon armed with gun arrested after attempting to flee from deputies on ATV in Chattooga County

According to a Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On June 10th, 2023, at 6:31 AM, a representative of L&WC Bonding Company spoke with Chattooga County Corporal Corey Fielding, in regard to Corey Brian Cooper, 30, of Dawsonville, having active felony warrants for his arrest in Forsyth and Lumpkin County. Corporal Fielding was told that Cooper had a firearm in his pocket and was located at 67 Henderson Road in Trion. Corporal Fielding, another deputy from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, and three Trion Police officers responded to the address. According to the report, When they arrived, Cooper exited the residence and ran to an ATV in an attempt to flee from law enforcement. Corporal Fielding drew his service weapon and issued verbal commands for Cooper to stop. An officer was able to grab Cooper from the ATV and take him into custody before he could flee. A loaded .380 caliber pistol was located in Cooper’s pocket, as stated. Cooper was booked into the Chattooga County Jail, charged with obstruction of law enforcement officers and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Cooper was placed on hold for Forsyth County and Lumpkin County.
