Rome man arrested for DUI again after speeding on Hwy 114 in Summerville

According to a Summerville Police Department incident report, On Saturday, June 10th, 2023, Officer Pritchard stopped a vehicle for speeding on Hwy 114 near Lyerly Street. Officer Pritchard made contact with the driver, identified as Johnny Marl Garrett, 57, of Rome, and suspected him to be under the influence. During field sobriety tests, Garrett showed several signs of impairment and showed a BAC blood-alcohol content three times higher than the legal limit of .237 on a PBT. Garrett was found to have a warrant and driving with a suspended license (suspended for DUI). Garrett was arrested and booked into the Chattooga County Jail and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, driving with a suspended or revoked license, and failure to appear- state court original charge DUI alcohol refusal, driving on suspended. According to arrest records, Garrett has had several previous arrests for DUI.
