Wanted convicted felon located in Rossville by US Marshals found with gun, fentanyl and meth

On February 25th, 2023, at 12:45 PM, Sgt. Herpst responded to 63 Hannah Way in Rossville Battlefield R/C in reference to the United States Marshall Service needing assistance with a suspect who they have federal warrants for probation violation. US Marshals advised they have been watching the suspect (Carl Avery Lewis, 33, of Chattanooga) in Chattanooga, TN, and followed him to this location. While the US Marshal’s affected the arrest, they located a large plastic baggie containing numerous round blue pills, along with $344 dollars in cash, in Lewis’s right front pocket. Cpl. Blesch also assisted and located a loaded silver and black 9MM Smith & Wesson handgun under the driver’s seat. The gun was run, and it returned not on file. While obtaining the firearm from the front seat, Lewis stated that he bought the firearm from the streets and stated it’s not stolen. Lewis also advised he had some marijuana in the driver’s front door, which was located. The US Marshals advised they would be placing a hold against the suspect for the federal warrant. Cpl. Blesch transported Lewis to the Walker County Jail. Lewis showed felony convictions in Hamilton County for aggravated robbery convictions in 2016. The large amount of substances found field tested positive for fentanyl, along with one bag of meth. Lewis was booked on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon during the commission of a felony, possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute, possession of meth with intent to distribute, possession of fentanyl, possession of meth, and fugitive from justice warrant.
