Unlicensed drunk driver arrested again for DUI after being found passed out behind the wheel in Dalton

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, On May 21st, 2023, at 2:15 AM, Officer Shope was patrolling the area of East Morris Street near Martha Sue Drive when he witnessed a red Chevrolet Truck with its lights on in the parking lot of the convenient store parked at the side of the business in front of the dumpster area. Officer Shope reported, “My window was rolled down, and [I] could hear that the engine was revving like someone was in it with the gas pushed all the way down. [I] got out of the vehicle and witnessed the driver, Domingo Resendiz-Rubio, 39, of Dalton, passed out with vomit running down the side of the driver’s seat. [I] could also smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from inside the vehicle, and [I] witnessed an open Modelo bottle in his hand. His foot was all the way down on the gas pedal with the vehicle in park. Since there were no other city officers available at this time and [I] suspected the driver to be DUI, dispatch was able to send a county deputy to my location.” Officers reported it was very difficult to wake him up, but after several minutes they were able to. Officer Shope noticed that his eyes were very glassy and bloodshot. The officer also reported he was not able to keep his balance without him or the deputy holding him up. The officer also noticed that Domingo had urinated all over himself and in the seat of the truck. Due to his perceived intoxication level being very high, the officer had EMS en route to check him out. Due to Domingo’s intoxication level, they did not perform field sobriety, mainly due to him not being able to stand without falling over. Domingo was taken into custody for DUI and then proceeded to urinate on himself and down his leg. Domingo was booked into the Whitfield County Jail, where he showed a BAC of .279. Domingo was charged with DUI, open container, and driving with no valid license. According to Whitfield County Jail records, Domingo has a history of DUI arrests.
