Unlicensed drunk driver arrested after crashing on I-75 in Catoosa County

According to a Georgia State Patrol incident report, On July 1st, 2023, at 8:32 PM, TFC2 Day and Cadet Oshields were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash on I-75 South in Catoosa County. Cadet Oshields reported, “[I] determined that the driver of the vehicle failed to maintain his lane, which caused his vehicle to travel off the roadway before hitting a guardrail. [I] then began speaking with Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office DeputyNorth, who advised that the driver of the vehicle was possibly under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. The driver, Anselmo Landeros Flores, 50, of Antioch, TN, was identified with his Mexican identification card. Troopers asked Landeros Flores if he had drunk any alcoholic beverages before driving, to which he responded that he only had one beer. Cadet Oshields reported, “While speaking to Mr. Landeros Flores, [I] noticed that his eyes were bloodshot and watery. [I] also observed that Mr. Landeros Flores was having a hard time balancing on his own, and [I] observed that he had to use the guardrail behind him for balance. Mr. Landeros Flores also seemed sleepy as [I] was speaking to him. [I] could smell a distinct odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Mr. Landeros Flores’s breath as he spoke.” During standardized field sobriety tests, Landeros Flores showed several signs of impairment and a BAC of .164 on a PBT. Landeros Flores was placed under arrest for DUI and agreed t the state test. Troopers located a 32oz black Yeti cup that contained an alcoholic beverage in the front cup holder area of the crashed 2014 Toyota Tacoma that Landeros Flores was driving. Landeros Flores license status through GCIC showed that Landeros Flores did not have a valid license to operate a vehicle in the state of Georgia. The registration status of the vehicle through GCIC showed that the registration was suspended. Landeros Flores was booked into the Catoosa County Jail, charged with DUI, driving while unlicensed, open container, failure to maintain a single lane, and suspended registration.
