Rome motorcyclist killed after being struck by drunk driver Friday night

According to Rome Police Department and Floyd County Jail reports, Terrance Marquis Cunningham, 37, of Rome, remains in jail without bond following a fatal head-on crash that killed a motorcyclist Friday night. He was arrested by Rome police at Redmond Circle and Hillside Avenue when he changed lanes “without first ascertaining that such a movement can be made safely.” His Silver Chevrolet Impala struck Justin Cody Lee Higgins, 41, of Rome, on his motorcycle killing him. Cunningham was booked into the Floyd County Jail charged with felony homicide by vehicle, DUI driving under the influence of alcohol, open container, improper turn and a probation violation when he “left his lane of travel and struck a motorcycle killing the driver of the motorcycle.”
