Rome man violates bond condition to stay away from woman and obstructs officers in Floyd County

According to a Floyd County Police Department incident report, On May 26th, 2023, at 1:33 PM, Officer Tucker was dispatched to 4985 Alabama Highway in regards to a fight between the caller and her ex-boyfriend Bryan O’Neal Chastain, 48, of Rome. While en route, dispatch informed me that Bryan has a conditional bond and is not supposed to have any contact with the victim. Officer Carrington also responded to this incident as well. Officers arrived and found the victim crying outside. She advised that Bryan had been drinking heavily all day long. The victim also stated that Bryan threw all her stuff inside the creek bed beside the residence and shattered the windshield of her vehicle using an unknown item. Officers asked the victim where Bryan was at this time, and she stated she did not know because she ran when Bryan began to get really aggressive. I advised Rachel to stand by in a safe area while I tried to locate Bryan. Officer Tucker reported, “[I] ran around to the side of the trailer and saw Bryan walking across Alabama Highway, walking toward me. [I] screamed at Bryan to stop, but Bryan saw me and began to run back across Alabama Highway toward the wood line. [I] got in my patrol car and turned lights and sirens on to cross Alabama Highway safely with due regard. By the time [I] got to the other side of the roadway, Bryan had entered the woods, and [I] did not know where he entered, so [I] waited for my backup before going after him.” Bryan was eventually located and placed under arrest. Bryan stated that he ran because he figured the victim made up some elaborate story about him because she was crazy. Officer Carrington and Officer Tucker drove to the residence. Bryan claimed he was at all day. The Resident who lived here stated that Bryan was only there for maybe a minute right before officers put him in handcuffs. While Officer Carrington was looking at the vehicle and the items Bryan threw into the creek, Bryan began to slam his head into the back glass of the patrol car. Bryan slammed his head into the glass. Bryan gave himself a laceration on his forehead, and began to bleed all down his face. At the hospital, Bryan stated that the victim suckered him into the residence, and they began to get into a verbal altercation, so he left. During the hospital visit, Bryan kept using profanity toward the nurses and was screaming the whole time. At one point, Bryan started shaking and acting unresponsive, but when a nurse came in and began to sternum rub Bryan, Bryan became alert, so the nurse could tell he was not having a seizure. Bryan was booked into the Floyd County Jail and charged with unlawful dumping, aggravated stalking, obstruction, and criminal trespass.
