According to a Floyd County Police Department incident report, On April 5th, 2023, Marcus Demon Watkins, 44, of Rome, was arrested after he engaged in online conversations of a sexual nature with someone he thought to be a child under the age of 16 years. According to the report, while speaking with the child, Watkins told them that he would bring them marijuana when they would meet up for sexual relations. He was taken into custody at the arranged location in Floyd County and was found with marijuana. Watkins was booked into the Floyd County Jail, charged with child molestation, use of a computer to solicit a child to commit a felony, obscene internet contact with a child, possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
