Rocky Face man arrested for DUI after driving reckless and crashing into vehicle on Hwy 48 in Menlo

According to a Georgia State Patrol incident report, On May 20th, 2023, at 5:25 PM, Corporal Flowers was dispatched to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of GA-48 and Jamestown Road in Chattooga County. During the crash investigation, it was determined that a 2023 Toyota Tacoma driven by Kenneth Dewayne Fetzer, 62, of Rocky Face, attempted to pass a vehicle on the left. The Tacoma struck the vehicle’s left side as it was turning left onto Jamestown Road. The reporting trooper did observe a double yellow line at the intersection. Corporal Flowers reported, “[I] asked Mr. Fetzer what happened, and he stated traffic was too slow. He stated the vehicle was driving too slow for him, and he just went over to the left to pass the vehicle. While talking to Mr. Fetzer, [I] noticed a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath, and his eyes were bloodshot and watery. [I] asked Mr. Fetzer if he had anything to drink, and after a long pause, he stated he stopped drinking around 3:00 this morning. Mr. Fetzer gave a sample of breath on the PBT, which indicated a positive result of an alcoholic beverage (.177).” During field sobriety testing, Fetzer showed several signs of impairment. Fetzer was placed under arrest for DUI and agreed to the state test. Fetzer was transported to Chattooga County Jail, charged with DUI, reckless driving, and passing in a no-passing zone.
