Rising Fawn man arrested for DUI after leaving Dalton bar and failing to maintain lane

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On April 13th, 2023, at 1:03 AM, Deputy Woods was patrolling the area of Market Street when Deputy Woods observed a drunk male, later identified as Jonathan Matthew Brown, 39, of Rising Fawn, staggering his way back to his vehicle from a local bar. Deputy Woods then followed the Ford F-250 TN Tag on West Walnut Avenue, failing to maintain his lane. Deputy Woods then initiated a traffic stop and made contact with Brown. According to the report, “Deputy Woods asked Mr. Brown if he had any alcoholic beverages tonight due to Deputy Woods smelling the odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his person, Mr. Brown stated he had 4 (Four) Michelob Ultra’s.” During Field Sobriety tests, Brown pulled out his telephone and attempted to make a phone call. Deputy Woods then took Brown into custody. According to the report, Deputy Woods then read Mr. Brown’s Implied Consent. Mr. Brown refused any testing. Lt. Rann then made contact with Mr. Brown’s job trainer, who then arrived on the scene and retrieved the company truck. “Deputy Woods then transported Brown to the Whitfield County Jail. Brown refused to go into a cell when the Booking Staff ordered him, causing Sgt. Allen physically assists Brown into the cell. Brown was charged with DUI Driving Under the Influence, failure to maintain lane.
