Whitfield County Sheriff's Office looking for man who stole chainsaw from Ace Hardware

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff's Office incident report, on October 23rd, a deputy responded to Ace Hardware located at 4158 GA-2 in reference to a male who stole a chainsaw. Once on the scene, the deputy was walked to the office to review camera footage. The worker showed the deputy that at approximately 4:46 PM, a male and female arrived at the store in a dark blue Honda passenger car. The subjects backed in a parking space near the corner of the store. An unidentified male entered the store and went to the chain saw section. The male looked at the chainsaws for a few minutes while being observant of his surroundings. The male is seen getting a chain saw and begin walking towards the exit. Once the male was close to the exit, he ran past the register and towards his vehicle and left the scene. A BOLO was given to Varnell PD, but they were unable to locate the vehicle. The case will remain active pending further investigation from CID. Ace personnel advised that the serial numbers to Stihl chainsaws are given to them upon registering the chainsaw. The MS 362 Stihl chainsaw was listed as being $700.
