Wanted Summerville man arrested after brief chase Tuesday on Highway 100 in Chattooga County
Chattooga County Sheriff Drug Agent attempted to stop a white Honda that was observed traveling all over the roadway on Hwy. 100 Tuesday afternoon. The driver, however, did not stop, according to Sheriff Mark Schrader. When the agent approached the Honda, it sped off, leading to a brief vehicle chase for a few miles. The fleeing suspect stopped on Ellenburg Subdivision Road in front of Mohawk industries. The driver and a juvenile passenger jumped out and ran into the woods. Chattooga County Sheriff K-9 kendy, Georgia Department of Corrections K-9, Sheriff Schrader, Lookout Mountain Drug Task Force Agents, Summerville PD Officers, and several deputies captured a 14-year-old juvenile and Michael Darryl Brown Jr., 30, of Summerville, after a short foot pursuit and search. When Sheriff Schrader asked Brown why he had fled, "He said it was dumb that he did it." Brown was arrested on a parole violation and several traffic violations. The teenager told deputies he ran because the driver did.
