Wanted Knoxville TN man arrested after attempting to elude Walker County deputies on Memorial day
On Monday, May 27th Memorial Day a Wanted Knoxville man was arrested after crashing while attempting to elude Walker County deputies. Around 8:30 P.M. a Walker County Deputy patrolling the south end of Walker County on Highway 27 near the county line attempted to stop a driver of a black 1997 Toyota Camry for not wearing a seatbelt. The driver identified as Zachary Gage Suttles, 33 of a Knoxville, Tennessee address stopped for a brief moment but took off from the deputy turning down Halls Valley Road at a high rate of speed. Another Walker County deputy joined the pursuit as it traveled down Halls Valley Road. The pursuit continued down Halls Valley Road before turning right onto Halls Valley Spur heading toward Chattooga County. Zachary Suttles was traveling south on Halls Valley. Suttles was still actively fleeing Walker County Sheriff's deputies at a high rate of speed. The Toyota Camry Suttles was driving began to rotate clockwise, striking the ditch on the right shoulder. The Camry then overturned onto its top, coming to an uncontrolled final rest on its left side and roof in the ditch facing north. Suttles was tased by a deputy before being taken into custody. Zachary Suttles is being charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or other, failure to appear, violation of probation, seat belt violation, reckless driving, driving while license suspended or revoked, willful obstruction of law enforcement officers (felony), fleeing/attempting to elude police (felony). A passenger 28-year-old from Trion was checked by EMS as well a Suttles who refused any medical attention. The Georgia State Patrol investigated the single vehicle crash.
