Multiple Dade County patrol vehicles struck while assisting motorist on I-24 Tuesday afternoon
Today, at approximately 4:00pm, Dade County Deputies were dispatched to Interstate 24 West, to assist a motorist who had two flat tires. While the two Deputies were assisting the motorist, a vehicle struck a tractor-trailer, which caused the vehicle to lose control, striking the first patrol car, and then come to rest after striking the 2nd patrol car. One deputy was sitting in his car, and one deputy was outside her car, when the two vehicles were struck. One deputy, and three other subjects, were transported to the hospital via ground ambulance, with non life-threatening injuries. This is a sobering reminder, of just how dangerous this job can be. Dade County Sheriff’s Office posted: “As always, we beg you to PLEASE SLOW DOWN AND/OR MOVE OVER.”
This is their third
patrol vehicle to be hit on the interstate, in less than a month.
