Man arrested in connection with deadly Murray County crash that killed couple, facing murder charges
On July 29th at approximately 1918 hours, the Murray County Sheriffs Office and the Georgia State Patrol responded to the area of Hwy 411 North at or near the address of 5961 Hwy 411 North Chatsworth, Georgia in reference to a vehicle crash that resulted in the death of Tommy and Kristen Nickels of Crandall, Ga. It was quickly determined by eyewitness accounts that a second vehicle was involved and had fled. Over the course of six days the Georgia State Patrol Reconstruction Team and the Murray County Sheriffs Office Investigators poured over mountains of information and leads that led the Sheriffs Office and the Georgia State Patrol to an address on Hwy 411 North looking for a silver 2006 Suzuki Reno. On the afternoon of August 4th, 2020 Captain Tim Bell, Chief Deputy Jimmy Davenport and Trooper Stephen Langham arrived at the address of Anthony “Tony” Brown on Hwy 411 North. After a short foot pursuit, Anthony “Tony” Brown was apprehend and the burned remains of a 2006 silver Suzuki Reno was located behind the residence. The 2006 Suzuki Reno was taken to the Sheriffs Office for processing. The Murray County Sheriffs Office charged Anthony “Tony” Brown with Aggravated Assault w/vehicle, Felony Murder (2counts), and 2nd Degree Arson. This investigation is active and ongoing.
