Dalton man arrested after shoplifting boots and backpack from Walmart
According to a Whitfield County Sheriff's Office incident report, on August 2nd, 2020, at approximately 3:22 PM, a deputy responded to Walmart located at 2545 East Walnut Avenue in reference to a shoplifting in progress. Just prior to arriving on the scene, the deputy was advised that Asset Protection had a subject in their custody. Upon arriving on the scene, the deputy met with the asset protection manager, who stated that a male subject, identified as Henry McDade, 66 of Dalton, put on a pair of boots and a backpack, then attempted to leave the store. The manager stated that McDade passed all points of payment with the items and was stopped about three feet from the door by himself and the asset protection associate. The manager stated that McDade is on camera, putting on the boots and attempting to exit the store. The manager stated that McDade left a pair of flip flops on the floor when he put on the boots. The boots were valued at $29.77, and the backpack was valued at $24.88 for a total of $54.65. The manager stated that McDade was now trespassed from all Walmart owned properties. McDade was arrested and asked if he was stealing the items. McDade responded, "I guess so." The manager brought in the flip flops left in the store by McDade so he could get the boots back. McDade transported to the Whitfield County Jail charged with theft by shoplifting.
