According to the Georgia State Patrol: "On 07/04/2020 at 6:45 p.m., TFC Apodaca became the primary unit in a pursuit that began when an Eton City Police Officer attempted to stop a motorcycle for no tag displayed. Eton Police requested GSP assistance. TFC Apodaca entered the pursuit on GA 225 North at GA 286. The suspect drove at excessive speeds and drove on the wrong side of the road. Near the intersection of GA 2 East, TFC Apodaca attempted to channel the motorcycle onto the east shoulder. The suspect drove behind TFC Apodaca and struck the rear of TFC Apodaca's patrol car. Further down the road, near the Tennessee State Line, TFC Apodaca attempted to channel the motorcycle to the side of the road. The suspect again drove behind TFC Apodaca's patrol car and struck the patrol car in the rear. After the impact, the suspect lost control and traveled off the west side of the road. The motorcycle traveled down a steep embankment and struck a tree. Billy Glen Smith, 46 of Chatsworth, GA sustained serious injuries, but the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Smith was found to be riding without a motorcycle license. No information is available for the motorcycle due to the VIN being illegible. SFC Thompson and Cpl.
