Area police investigating string of armed robberies at CVS Pharmacy in Northwest Georgia

On Monday, May 11th, 2020 an armed robbery occurred at CVS Pharmacy on Rome Blvd. The robber, who was a masked black male wearing all black clothing and brandishing a handgun, entered the store as it was closing and forced an employee towards the pharmacy/office area where he took cash from the registers and the business office. No medications were taken. The robber exited out of the pharmacy drive-thru window. No vehicle description or last known direction of travel was known. None of the employees present in the store during the robbery were physically injured. At this time the Summerville Police Department has no suspects but the possibility of this robbery being connected to a string of serial robberies in the northwest Georgia area is being investigated due to similarities between it and other robberies. Calhoun Police Department is also investigating an armed robbery at CVS. Suspect held two employees of CVS in Calhoun at gunpoint on Sunday night. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5'9", and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, very dark blue jeans and a blue surgical mask Sunday night. The suspect was further described as having raspy voice and at the time of the armed robbery, smelled like marijuana. Calhoun Police are checking into a possible connection to the armed robbery at the CVS in Summerville on Monday night. Anyone with any information is asked to call the CPD at 706-629-1234.
