Man arrested for DUI after leaving Chattanooga bar and failing to maintain lane in Catoosa County

According to Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On May 28th, 2023, at 12:07 AM, Deputy Henry was traveling south Interstate 75 when he noticed a black Subaru Forester failing to maintain their lane of travel. Deputy Henry initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Russell Grooms Jackson, 43. According to the report, “While speaking with the Jackson, Deputy Henry noticed he had red and watery eyes and could also smell an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle. Deputy Henry asked Jackson where he was coming from, to which he replied with “Bitter Alibi” which is a bar located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. When asked if Jackson had consumed any alcoholic beverages, Jackson stated that he did have two. During field sobriety testing, Jackson showed several signs of impairment and showed positive for alcohol on his breath. Jackson was placed under arrest for DUI and agreed to the state test. Jackson was booked into the Catoosa County Jail, charged with DUI, and failing to maintain a single lane.
