Gordon County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrests 4 on felony drugs and firearms charges

On Wednesdayafter September 6th, deputy sheriffs stopped a suspicious pick up truck on Mt. Zion Road near Resaca. A subsequent search of the interior of the truck by deputies utilizing K9 Lollie resulted in the discovery of a large amount of a wide variety of drugs, including methamphetamine packaged for resale, cannabis, psilocybin (Schedule I) mushrooms, and Schedule IV narcotics. The driver, Kevin Baker, age 36 of 546 Mt. Zion Road was arrested without incident and lodged in the county jail. Based upon information gathered during the investigation, deputies next went to Baker’s home with state probation officers where they conducted a search of the residence. Baker was at the time of his arrest on probation from a 2015 methamphetamine conviction. He was charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine and other drug-related offenses.  Inside Baker’s home deputies found additional drugs, an illegally held firearm, as well as arresting 3 other individuals, Shana Mallett, age 28, of Mt. Zion Road who was being sought as a fugitive for violating parole, Sherry Ann Baker, age 39, of Mt. Zion Road, and Stephen Connor Cole, age 59, of Dalton, Georgia. All of these 3 were charged with possession of methamphetamine. Mallett and Baker were also charged with Firearms Violations. All four remain in jail pending judicial proceedings.
