Dalton woman arrested for DUI after crashing into ditch in Whitfield County

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff”s Office incident report, On December 11th, 2022, at 8:53 PM, Deputy Woods was dispatched to the area of 1st Street in reference to a vehicle crash. Once on scene Deputy Woods made contact with the operator of the vehicle, later to be identified as Elida Olguin, 41, of Dalton. According to the report, “Deputy Woods observed the driver’s facial expression which appeared to have a glazed over drowsy look, her eyes were slightly bloodshot and slow in movement, and there was a detection of the aroma of alcoholic beverage. Deputy Woods asked Ms. Olguin if she had any alcoholic beverages to drink before driving, and she stated she had approximately 6 (Six) Modelos.” During field sobriety tests, Olguin failed to comply with deputies’ commands multiple times and showed several signs of impairment. Olguin refused to give a breath sample and was placed under arrest for DUI. Olguin was placed under arrest for DUI and agreed to the state test. Olguin was then transported to the Whitfield County Jail, where she showed a BAC of .205. She was charged with DUI driving under the influence of alcohol, and failure to maintain lane.
