Dalton woman arrested after pursuit on Cleveland Hwy with Varnell PD officer and deputies

According to a Varnell Police Department incident report, On Tuesday, February 21st, 2023, at 11:26 PM Officer Tirado attempted to stop a 2012 Chevrolet Camero traveling southbound on GA-71 with a headlight out and speeding at 72 mph. Officer Tirado reported, “[I] called out to dispatch that [I] was going to conduct a traffic stop on the Camero bearing GA tag. At this point, the driver of the vehicle continued to go southbound on GA-71, and [I] then activated my sirens. The driver continued southbound on GA-7 and, at some point, began to fail to maintain their lane by leaving the outside lane and entering the inside lane. When approaching Williams Road at GA-71, the driver of the Camero ran the red light. When approaching the Dairy Queen on GA-71, the vehicle then came to a complete stop, and once the driver saw my driver door open, she then continued to slow roll and speed up again.” Officer Tirado and deputies were able to get the vehicle stopped at the North Dalton Bypass. The female driver, later identified as Emily Ann Teel, 41, of Dalton, was taken at gunpoint and taken into custody. Teel stated she did not stop because she was not sure if they were actually cops or not due to all the sex trafficking going on in Dalton and because all their patrol cars were “Unmarked”. Teel was booked into the Whitfield County Jail, where she was charged with headlight requirement, obstruction of law enforcement, reckless driving, and felony fleeing/ attempting to elude police.
