Dalton teen arrested for DUI after running red light on Walnut Avenue

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, On June 17th, 2023, at 2:27 AM, Officer Marcus was traveling south on Riverbend Road near the intersection with East Walnut Avenue when he observed a truck blow through the red light at a high rate of speed. The officer initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Jordan Lee Trevnio, 18, of Dalton. Officer Marcus reported, “Jordan began to tell me that he thought he could make it. Jordan was referring to running the red light. [I] could detect the odor of alcohol coming from Jordan’s vehicle. When [I] asked for Jordan’s license, he searched his pockets and could not find them. When [I] asked for Jordan’s insurance information, he attempted to give me his health insurance card. There were other passengers in the vehicle, so [I] asked Jordan to step out of the truck. When Jordan stepped out of the vehicle, [I] could still detect the odor of alcohol coming from him. Jordan stated that he only had one shot of liquor.” While waiting for another unit Jordan discovered his license in a pocket that he had already checked. This led the officer to further believe that Jordan might be under the influence. During field sobriety testing, Jordan showed several signs of impairment. Jordan was placed under arrest for DUI and refused the state test. Jordan was transported to the Whitfield County Jail and charged with DUI, underage consumption, and traffic signal violation.
