Dalton man arrested for DUI again after driving all over Walnut Avenue on Christmas Eve

According to the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On Christmas Eve, December 24th, 2022, at 2:36 AM, Deputy Woods was patrolling the area of Walnut Avenue when he observed a vehicle failing to maintain its lane. Deputy Woods initiated a traffic stop on Market Street and made contact with the driver, later to be identified as Phillip Wayne White, 48, of Dalton. According to the report, “Deputy Woods immediately observed the smell of alcoholic beverages coming from Mr. White. Deputy Woods also observed Mr. White slurring his sentences and his late responses to Deputy Woods’s questions. Dalton City Police Department Office Black then arrived on the scene to assist. Deputy Woods asked Mr. White if he had anything to drink tonight. He stated he was at Longhorn’s Steak House and had a couple of alcoholic beverages. Deputy Woods then asked Mr. White how many he had, and he then stated he had 3 (Three) Bud Lights at his residence and was never at Longhorn’s Steak House.” Deputy Woods observed White stumbling and failing to maintain his balance while walking. During Field Sobriety tests, White showed several signs of impairment and a BAC of .218. White’s driver’s license was run through GCIC and showed suspended due to prior DUI arrests. White was transported to the Whitfield County Jail, charged with DUI, driving under the influence less safe, driving on a suspended license, and failure to maintain lane.
