Chatsworth man arrested for DUI drugs after crashing into ditch in Dalton

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, On December 3rd, 2022, at 4:30 AM, Officer Morang responded to the north Dalton Bypass and Veterans Drive in reference to a vehicle that had run into a ditch, and the driver was unconscious. Lt. Cantrell advised that he was on the scene, and the driver was conscious and alert. Officer Morang reported, “When [I] arrived on the scene, several Dalton Firefighters were talking to the driver. Lt Cantrell told me that when he arrived, the driver was slumped over the wheel and appeared to be asleep. He stated that he had a large gas station fountain drink from Mapco poured out in his lap, but this did not wake him up.” Officer Morang spoke with the driver, Korey Matthew Conner, 22, of Chatsworth, who was standing at the rear of his vehicle. Officer Korey asked what happened, and he stated that he could not remember. Officer Morang reported, “While [I] was speaking with Korey, [I] could tell that his speech was slurred, and he was slow to respond to my questioning. [I] asked Korey if he had anything to drink tonight, and he said no. [I] asked him if he had smoked any drugs tonight, and he said no. I asked him if he had taken any pills, and he paused for a moment and then said, “Well, I thought I was taking a Tylenol 3.” I said, “Well, do you still believe this is what you took?” Korey stated that now he felt that it was something different.” During field sobriety tests, Korey showed several signs of rug impairment. Korey then admitted that he believed he was snorting a Percocet. Korey also Korey was transported to the Whitfield County Jail, charged with failure to maintain lane and DUI drugs less safe.
