Dalton man arrested for DUI after crashing into power pole on North Glenwood Avenue

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, On June 18th, 2023, at 2:00 AM, Officer Nunez responded to 411 North Glenwood Avenue for a single vehicle that had crashed into a power pole in front of John’s BBQ. Officer Ruiz helped the driver, identified as Jean Carlos Hernandez Jimenez, 30, of Dalton, exit the vehicle. Officer Nunez reported, “When asking Jean where he was coming from, he stated that he was coming from his coworker’s house off of Waugh Street. [I] asked Jean where he was headed, and he said, “To my house off Morris Street.” [I] advised Jean that he was headed the opposite way from Morris St. [I] noticed Jean was very confused about where he was even with having his google maps pulled up on his phone. [I] asked Jean if he had anything to drink tonight, and he admitted he only had 2-3 beers earlier.” During field sobriety tests, Jean showed several signs of impairment and a BrAC of .126 on a PBT. Jean was placed under arrest for DUI and asked if he was a united states citizen. Jean replied, “No, I only have a work visa from Mexico.” Jean was booked into the Whitfield County Jail, where he showed a BAC of .112 on the state test. Jean was charged with failure to maintain lane and DUI 0.08 grams or more.
