Dalton man arrested for DUI after causing scene while attempting to pick up daughter while drunk

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On June 18th, 2023, at 7:32 PM, Deputy McClure was sitting stationary on Cleveland Hwy at Westbrook Road when a BOLO came out from 108 Todd Ave for a Dalton Utilities truck. The caller stated that Jon Preston Reynolds, 38, of Dalton, had come to pick up his daughter and was intoxicated. The caller stated that he pulled up to the house and was screaming and cursing at her. She stated that after she advised him that she was calling law enforcement, he quickly left. Deputy McClure located the vehicle at the Mapco gas station on Lower Dawnville Road at Dawnville Road. Deputy McClure conducted a traffic stop and made contact with Reynolds. During field sobriety testing, Reynolds showed several signs of impairment and showed a BAC of .165 on a PBT. Reynolds was booked into the Whitfield County Jail, where he showed a BAC of .154 on the state test. Reynolds was charged with DUI. Deputies spoke with the caller further, who stated she received a phone call from Reynolds’s current wife, who advised he was drinking and driving again. She advised not to let his daughter go with him. When Reynolds arrived at the address, he became extremely belligerent, cursing at everyone. His daughter started telling her dad, “dad, please stop, please stop”. She said she told him she was going to call the law, and he told her to “call the law, you stupid b***h”. She stated that while this was going on, she was very scared for herself because she knew he carried a gun (which was found during the traffic stop), and he kept reaching for something inside the truck.
