Chicago man robs Circle K and crashes stolen vehicle during high-speed chase on I-75 in Whitfield County

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On June 27th, 2023, 11:21 AM, Deputy Phillips was dispatched to an armed robbery that had just occurred at the Circle K located at 201 Carbondale Road and the suspect fled in a Gray Infiniti with no tag, occupied by a tall black male, later identified as Kayvon Eddrick Taylor, 22, of Chicago, Illinois. Dispatch advised that the vehicle went northbound on I-75 with the left blinker on. According to the report, “Dispatch advised that Kayvon took all the 20$’s from the cash register and unknown if he had any weapons. Deputy Phillips observed a Gray Infiniti displaying no tag, being driven by a black male, with a black hoodie getting onto I-75 northbound from the 333 exit. Deputy Phillips then advised Dispatch of the visual and initiated a traffic stop. The Gray Infiniti then stopped on the shoulder approximately a mile before exit 336. Deputy Phillips drew out his firearm and began to give the driver verbal commands. Kayvon put his hands in the air inside the vehicle. As Deputy Phillips was exiting his vehicle to get cover to initiate a felony stop, Kayvon drove off at a high rate of speed continuing north on I-75.” As the pursuit was approaching the 336 exit, Lt.Stephens and a GSP trooper took over the pursuit. Kayvon then crashed the Infiniti into multiple other vehicles near exit 341. After setting up a perimeter along with other responding law enforcement. Tunnel Hill Police Department Officer Williams advised he had Kayvon at gunpoint and took him into custody. Dispatch advised the VIN on the Infiniti returned as a stolen vehicle out of Illinois taken on June 26th, 2023. Kayvon was booked into the Whitfield County Jail, charged with felony fleeing, reckless driving, robbery, felony theft by receiving stolen vehicle and other charges.
