Calhoun woman arrested for DUI after crashing into ditch on Dews Pond Road in Gordon County

According to a Gordon County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On January 28th, 2023, at 11:32 PM, Deputy Ralston with was dispatched to a single-vehicle crash at Dews Pond Road and Buck Boulevard. The witness advised the deputy they were traveling westbound on Dews Pond Road behind a 2003 white in color Cadillac Deville when it drove off the roadway and into the ditch. The driver Sally Anne Fairchild, 48, Calhoun, stated she saw a deer and swerved off the road to avoid hitting it. According to the report, “While speaking to Sally, she began to urinate on herself. Deputy Ralston immediately smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from Sally’s breath while she was speaking. Sally’s speech was normal, and her eyes were not watery. Deputy Ralston asked Sally if she had any alcoholic beverages, and Sally stated no.” During Standard Field Sobriety tests, Sally showed several signs of impairment and stated that she had three shots of whiskey at the Huddle House located at 556 SR-53 Calhou with her friends after work at Buc-ee’s. Sally was placed under arrest and agreed to the state test. Sally was transported to the Gordon County Jail, charged with DUI, failure to maintain lane, and driving while license are suspended for DUI.
