Calhoun pair found with a large amount of meth during late night traffic stop in Gordon County

According to a Gordon County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On March 4th, 2023, at approximately 1:21 AM, Deputy Giorigione was in the area of Farmville Road and Hwy 53 when he observed a Jeep Cherokee drive from Farmville Road to the storage units at 6935 Fairmount Hwy at a high rate of speed. According to the report, Deputy Giorigione ran the tag of the vehicle through Gordon County E 911. The tag number returned to a 2001 Ford Escape with no valid insurance. Deputy Giorigione conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of The Rock Fitness Center after the vehicle exited the storage units. Deputy Giorigione approached the passenger side window of the vehicle and made contact with passenger Jessica Lynn Barrett, 30, of Calhoun, and the driver William Mitchell Landress, 61, of Calhoun.” Deputy Giorigione asked both occupants out of the vehicle so he could run the VIN number on the vehicle. The VIN number came back to a 1999 Jeep Cherokee with no registration and valid insurance. During a search of a purse, Deputy Jinright located a clear plastic bag containing meth. Jessica was then placed under arrest. Jessica then stated to deputies there was another bag inside her bra. Deputies allowed Jessica to retrieve the bag herself. She stated the bags were William’s and she had taken the bags so he did not get in trouble. Deputies then located a large clear plastic bag containing meth and two bags containing marijuana. William was also then placed under arrest. Both Jessica and William were transported to the Gordon County Jail. William was booked for possession of meth with intent, possession of marijuana, concealing the identity of the vehicle, and no registration.
