Calhoun man arrested after running down and striking woman with his car in Gordon County

At about 3:30pm yesterday (August 7), Gordon County deputy sheriffs were dispatched to the vicinity of Union Grove Road / Interstate 75 Exit 310 in response to an “unknown problem” call. While en route there, deputies received additional information that a vehicle had ran down a pedestrian and fled the scene. The suspect vehicle was described as a white sedan driven by a black/male individual. Within minutes, deputies discovered that the suspect vehicle had been involved in a rear-end collision with a tractor trailer on the Interstate 75  #310 south bound ‘on’ ramp. The suspect, subsequently identified as Jaylon Montreal Alexander Williams, age 28, of 126 Ridgecrest Drive, NW, Calhoun, Georgia, was quickly apprehended there without incident by deputies and State Troopers from GSP Post 43. Williams was charged by the State Patrol with DUI and other traffic related offenses regarding the crash with the tractor trailer. He was also charged by deputy sheriffs with Aggravated Assault (Family Violence) regarding purposely running down the pedestrian, whom deputies subsequently discovered to be the offender’s domestic partner. She was transported to a hospital in a neighboring county and is being treated for serious injuries. Williams was lodged in the county jail pending bond proceedings.
