Summerville man arrested for DUI after driving reckless at speeds over 90 mph on Hwy 27

According to a Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office incident report, on Monday, March 27th, 2023, at 8:56 PM, Corporal Corey Fielding observed a vehicle driven by Tyler Lee Gill, 25, of Summerville, traveling at a high rate of speed in a 65 mile per hour zone on Highway 27. Fielding initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle in the Gore Food Mart parking lot and spoke to Gill. Gill’s, “eyes were bloodshot and watery, his speech was slurred and he had the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his person.” Gill admitted to consuming two 16-ounce beers prior to driving. A field sobriety test confirmed Gill was under the influence of alcohol. Gill was booked into the Chattooga County Jail, charged with DUI driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving and speeding.
