Unlicensed drunk driver arrested after driving all over the roadway in Dalton

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, On June 11th, 2023, at 12:00 AM, Officer Warren was patrolling the area of Fields Avenue when he observed a Honda Accord in front of him swerving all over the roadway, failing to maintain lane. Officer Warren attempted to conduct a traffic stop, and the Accord continued to drive until pulling into the driveway of 801 Redwine Street. Officer Warren reported, “[I] exited my patrol vehicle and approached the driver of the Accord, Esdras Lorenzo Ambrocio-Aguila, 26, of Dalton. [I] stood outside of Aguilar’s window for a brief moment before he realized [I] was standing there. Aguilar then rolled down his window. When he did this, [I] immediately detected a very strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from within the vehicle. [I] then explained to Aguilar why [I] had stopped him. Aguilar claimed that he did not speak English and that he only spoke Spanish. Aguilar claimed he was just going home from his friend’s house. It was at this time that [I] noticed that Aguilar’s eyes were bloodshot and that there was an opened case of what appeared to be beer in the front passenger floorboard of the car. [I] asked Aguilar for his license. Aguilar informed me that he was unlicensed. [I] then asked Aguilar how much he had had to drink. He stated that he only had had four beers before driving.” During field sobriety testing, Aguilar showed several signs of impairment and showed a BAC of .155 on a PBT. Aguilar was placed under arrest and agreed to the state test. Aguilar was booked into the Whitfield County Jail, where he showed a BAC of .173. Aguilar was charged with DUI, driving while unlicensed, and failure to maintain lane.
