Three Rome teens arrested on felony charges after wild shootout in Shannon

According to a Floyd County Police Department incident report, December 2nd, 2022, at 11:21 PM, several calls came into Floyd 911 in regards to a shot fired in the area of 2nd Street in Shannon Village. Officer Tetsworth assisted Officer McMeekin along with Officer Evans, Lt. Pendley, and Lt Hovers responded to the call. Witnesses advised officers they turned down 2nd St in order to visit a relative. They advised they could hear two males (later identified as Chayce Lee Stokes, 18, of Rome, and Ashton Jase Duvall, 19, of Rome) arguing, and then shooting started to happen. They both saw the two males shooting at one another. When officers arrived, they observed several people outside who advised the shooting occurred at 530 2nd Street. Officer McMeekin reported, “Once out of the patrol unit, [I] observed several 2.23/5.56 shell casings on the ground. [I] then advised Lt. Hovers of what [I] have observed, and he advised me to contact Capt. Robinson and advised him what was going on. Capt. Robinson then advised me to collect the shell casings and see if [I] can recover any bullets lodged in any surfaces.” A victim advised a bullet through the front window of his house. Once at 530 2nd St, officers observed a busted glass screen door, several 9mm shell casings on the ground/porch, and bullet holes in the front window. Witnesses advised a Chayce Stokes lived at the address. The resident at 555 2nd Street advised his vehicle was shot. Another victim showed officers two bullet holes, one in the bed of the truck and the other near the front end driver’s side that exited near the front headlight. Witnesses advised they saw a person run out and open the door to the truck, the Ram 1500, that fled the scene and grabbed what they believed to be an AR with a long extended mag on it. The resident at 535 2nd Street also called in regarding several bullet holes in the house due to the shooting. According to the report, Officers learned that Duvall had called a family member upset, stating he had been driving her pickup truck. She stated he went to his friend’s house Chayce Stokes. She stated they had been drinking heavily, and there was some type of altercation between them. Chayce’s sister had called him asking what Chayce was on, and she was told he had been drinking liquor, using cocaine, and taking a Klonopin. According to the report, On December 5th, 2022, members of the Floyd County Police Department executed an arrest warrant at 91B Northridge Ct for Chayce Stokes. Probable cause was found to obtain a search warrant. Drugs, packaging material, digital scale, large amounts of cash, pills, guns, and ammunition were found. Thomas Hunter Stokes, 19, and Chayce Leee Stokes were both charged. Duvall was also eventually arrested and charged with aggravated assault, reckless conduct, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Chayce was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, criminal damage to property in the 2nd degree x3, reckless conduct, possession of a schedule I and schedule II controlled substance, possession of drug-related objects and two counts possession/distribution of marijuana. Chayce and Thomas is currently being held with no bond.
