Tennessee pair arrested after starving and abandoning dogs in Whitfield County

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On Wednesday, December 1st, at 10:56 AM, Animal Control Deputy Diak was dispatched to West Field Dr in reference to a call of animal cruelty. The caller stated the tenants, Dashan Cabinda Mack, 38, of Hixson, TN, and Hailey Anastasia Millsap, 38, of Hixson, TN, were evicted on November 30th by means of set out the order and that they had left their two dogs behind. When the deputy went inside the residence, he observed the dogs to be extremely malnourished, with several injuries throughout the body. The dogs were contained on the porch without any food, water, or shelter. The deputy also reported the porch was covered in feces and had not be cleaned in a very long time. The Whitfield County Animal Shelter Director advised the dog had a Body Score of 1 on the Purina Body Condition System. The deputy reported all the dog’s bones were protruding out of the dog. The dogs quickly devoured the dog food they were given. Warrants for both Dashan and Hailey for felony aggravated animal cruelty and animal abandonment were issued. Both Dashan and Hailey have since been arrested in Hamilton County and booked into the Whitfield County Jail.
