Summerville woman found with meth after causing two-vehicle while DUI in Floyd County

According to a Floyd County Police Department incident report, On May 29th, 2023, 11:34 AM, Officer Wishart arrived on the scene of a two-vehicle crash on GA 140 and Prosperity Way. Officer Wishart reported, “As [I] was walking from my patrol vehicle to the scene, [I] noticed the female next to the black passenger car was searching through a backpack. As [I] got closer to the other party involved in the accident, [I] kept visual on the female by the black passenger car and noticed her rummaging around the passenger seat. [I] spoke with the driver and passenger of the white pickup. [I] asked the driver and passenger if they were alright and if they needed medical attention. Both the driver and passenger stated they were okay and did not need medical attention.” The officer then spoke with the female driver, later identified as Katharine Nicole Medley, 45, of Summerville. Katharine advised she was okay and that she did not need medical attention. Katharine stated she bumped her head but that it was fine. [I] advised Katharine that [I] could have EMS come check her out to be sure that she did not have any head injury. Officer Wishart observed signs of impairment while speaking with Katharine. Officer Wishart asked Katharine if she knew who the current president was, and Katharine stated, “Obama”. Lt. Williams arrived on the scene to assist. During a search of the vehicle, officers located a meth pipe and three baggies of meth. Katharine began stating that she had no idea where she was or what was going on. Katharine stated she did not remember driving. Katharine was placed under arrest for DUI and agreed to the state test. Katharine was then transported to Floyd County Jail and charged with following too closely, failing to maintain a single lane, DUI, and possession of meth.
