Snellville pair and Atlanta attorney found with large amount of fentanyl and stolen gun at Hays State Prison

According to Chattooga County Magistrate Court and Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office records, On Friday, April 14th, 2023, at 1:30 PM, Hays State Prison authorities requested assistance from Chattooga County deputies. Atlanta-based law firm John Foy & Associates attorney William Avriett Green, 36, of Lawrenceville, Briana Semille Everson, 31, and Samuel David Ware, 38, both of Snellville, were all arrested. According to records, Green allegedly snuck a piece of paper to an inmate inside the prison that was laced with a liquid substance that was later determined to be contraband. At some point, Hays State Prison guards were made aware of the situation and searched Green and also the vehicle he arrived in. Guards found a large amount of fentanyl, marijuana, and a firearm that was reported stolen. The video showed there were two other individuals that entered the prison grounds in the vehicle with Green. All three individuals were booked into the Chattooga County Jail, charged with trafficking fentanyl, possession of fentanyl, theft by receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, crossing guard lines with drugs and weapons, and possession of less than one ounce of marijuana. Green was also charged with giving inmate items with the consent of the warden. Green, who has been a lawyer since 2014, shows on The State Bar of Georgia as an active member in good standing with no disciplinary action taken against him. Arrest records showed in 2021, Green was arrested for DUI in Norcross.
